This article looks at a cable written in May 1975 which reports a previously unreported attempted assassination of the Bangladesh president, Sheik Mujibur Rahman. It also deals with a cable written on the day after Mujib’s assassination criticising him for ’his apparent desire to hold power largely for personal aggrandizement and dynastic reasons’ and for suffering ’the classic paranoia of the despot.’

2. ’Kissinger sought Indian press censorship over Mujib murder claims: US cable’
This article looks at cables written from Washington, New Delhi and Dhaka in months after the assassination of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in August 1975, which show how US diplomats - including Kissinger, the secretary of state - pressed the Indian government during its period of Emergency to use its censorship powers to stop the publication of articles in the media alleging that the United States was involved in the killing.
